Which came first Egg or Chicken?
The question of whether the chicken or the egg came first is an age-old philosophical conundrum. From a biological perspective, the egg came first. Eggs have been around for millions of years, long before chickens as we know them today existed. Animals that predated chickens, such as reptiles and dinosaurs, were laying eggs long before the evolution of birds.
Over time, through a process of gradual changes and genetic mutations, a bird species similar to what we now consider a chicken would have emerged from its non-chicken ancestors. This evolutionary transition would have occurred through the accumulation of genetic changes in successive generations. Eventually, a bird hatched from an egg would have possessed the genetic makeup that classifies it as a chicken, marking the point where the first chicken emerged.
Therefore, the first chicken would have come from an egg laid by its non-chicken ancestors. In this sense, the egg came before the chicken in the evolutionary timeline.
